Dermaplaning is perfect as a one off treatment for special occasions where you want your makeup to sit nicely (please make sure your make up artist approves of this treatment first).

We do not recommend this treatment for regular use as it is important not to remove your skins barrier.

Dermaplaning will not cause the vellus hair on your face to grow back thicker or darker, however as the hair grows out it may feel blunt, but when the hair completely falls out a new soft ended hair will grow back

You will not be suitable for Dermaplaning if any of the following applies to you

• impaired skin barrier (redness, inflammation, dehydration, itchiness, flakiness or acne flare-ups)
• irritated skin including sunburn;
• active inflamed acne;
• those with uncontrolled diabetes;
• active infection of any type, such as herpes simplex or flat warts;
• active rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis;
• severe solar keratatosis;
• those with skin cancer or undergoing chemotherapy or radiation;
• those who have used acne treatment drugs currently or in the past six months;
• those who have used prescription retinol within a week of treatment;
• those with bleeding disorders or difficulty clotting (hemophilia);
• any open wounds or sores.

• Please let your therapist know if you are using any medications – topical or oral.

• If you are prone to cold sores you may want to take an antiviral medication 24-48 hours prior to treatment.

• No exfoliation (scrubs, peels, microdermabrasion) one week prior to Dermaplaning treatments.

• Don’t use retinol (or stronger) Vitamin A products 1 week prior to your treatment.

• You should wait 14 days after receiving Dermal Fillers to receive Dermaplaning treatment

• Use a gentle cleanser and apply moisturiser at least twice daily for a minimum of 7 days post treatment.

• Avoid sun exposure as much as possible for a minimum of 7 days post treatment.

• If you must be in the sun, apply SPF 30 or greater, reapply often, wear a wide brimmed hat, and seek shade when possible. Be careful of sun exposure and wear sunscreen daily for 2 weeks.

• Avoid excessive heat 3 days post treatment, i.e. heavy workouts, steam rooms or saunas, etc.

• Avoid chlorine for 48 hours.

• Avoid facial waxing or further exfoliation (peels, microdermabrasion) for 7 days.

• Do not pick, scratch, or aggressively rub the treated area.

• No exfoliating scrubs or polishes should be used for the first 7 days.

• Do apply hydrating serums as absorption levels will be elevated.

• You may experience slight peeling for the first few days. Slight windburn sensation and/or blotchiness are normal for the first few days. Skin care products may tingle for the first 2 days.
